"I Can"

Become an “I Can” Person

I would be a very wealthy person if I had a dollar for every time someone told me “I can’t.” As a personal fitness trainer, part of my job is to challenge individuals to move out of their physical comfort zone with exercises, athletic feats, and higher intensity, so they can accomplish their health goals. Yet, so often when I instruct a client to perform an exercise that pushes him or her to the next level they say, “I can’t do that.” Well, this never works. My response is usually something like, “How do you know?” or “I’m going to prove you wrong.” Under my supervision, and with encouragement, clients attempt the challenge and many times they are successful on their first or second attempt. They are shocked. They really didn’t think they could do what was asked, yet they did. They are so proud of themselves. With success, hard work, encouragement and support, they tackle challenge after challenge and find their “I can.”

How about you? Are you being robbed of abundant life by the thief of “I can’t”? Do you think “I can’t lose weight,” “I can’t exercise,” “I can’t run,” “I can’t do anything about my diabetes” or “I can’t ________?” No matter your “I can’t” statement, I ask, why not? Have you tried? Or are you content having your abundant life stolen from you? If you would like to overcome your “I can’t,” then this week’s article on Lifeway.com is just for you. Read Lock Out the Thief of “I Can’t,” and learn four strategies for overcoming “I can’t” and becoming an “I can” person.

Live Abundantly in 2010,
Branda
